Dr Mathew Tung Yu Yee is a Neurosurgeon in Singapore and England. He specialized in treating and managing disorders of the brain, neck, thoracic, coccyx back pain, epidural injection, back/spine operation and pain relief. He believes that neurosurgery should always consider the non-invasive options before open surgery to achieve minimum morbidity and a quick return to optimum function. He uses minimally invasive techniques using modern endoscope-assisted techniques to access the pituitary adenoma, treat hydrocephalus and ventricular tumours.
Dr Mathew Tung is trained and underwent advanced neurosurgical training in Singapore and in United Kingdom obtaining F.R.C.S. (Surgical Neurology) in 1996. He is a fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. During his extensive training, he worked in Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Queen’s Medical Centre Nottingham, National Hospitals for Neurology and Neurosurgery, London and Singapore General Hospital (SGH). He continued medical education enthusiastically and keeps abreast of latest techniques by attending courses and attachments in Europe (SRS, SRT, spinal surgery and disc replacement), America (skull base approaches to acoustic neuroma) and China (endovascular techniques for vascular disorders). In addition, Dr Tung has also offered lecture and presentation at several institutions in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and China.
He spent 12 years (2000 to 2012) as a consultant neurosurgeon in Lam Wah Ee and Gleneagles hospitals. In 2012 to 2017, he was appointed as a consultant neurosurgeon to the Pacific Healthcare Group.
